The app has graduated to version 1.5.1, the [&hellip;]","content":"<p><strong>Christmas comes early as the app gets a facelift and \u2018Gaussian Splatting\u2019 arrives on OVER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The tireless development team at OVER have reached into the goody bag for some early Christmas presents. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Log into the app and you\u2019ll notice a significant change to the main browsing experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The app has graduated to version 1.5.1, the most significant change being the main browsing experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You\u2019ll now be able to set your view of the world map to show global Experiences and OVER Maps made, Experiences only, or take a Marketplace view.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>And on December 11 you\u2019ll also be able to access the map2earn\u2122\ufe0f as we start to Map The World in 3D!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Key features of the map2earn\u2122\ufe0f section include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Map showing mappable areas<\/li>\n<li>Rewards and earnings overview<\/li>\n<li>Status of the Monthly and Major Prize Draws<\/li>\n<li>Tokens available to withdraw<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Introducing Gaussian Splatting<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Probably the most noticeable visual difference will be in the Mapper and the video previews of mapped locations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instead of visualizations courtesy of NeRF, these are now generated by Gaussian Splatting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So what\u2019s Gaussian Splatting then? Well, it\u2019s not a new social media craze, nor is it a nasty food-borne illness common to the subtropics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Put simply, Gaussian Splatting is a visual rendering technique, traditionally used in the medical and scientific fields to render images taken from multiple points of view.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each 3D scene is made up of millions of particles or \u2018Gaussians\u2019 which, individually look like blobs or \u2018splats\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The benefit of Gaussian Splatting is that it is typically faster and delivers the same or better quality than NeRF rendering.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Explore your 3D maps<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Head to the OVER Marketplace and select a 3D map. Use your mouse and directional keys to move around within the scene\u2014pretty cool!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You may remember <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.overthereality.ai\/blog\/overs-patent-application-for-real-time-exploration-of-ai-generated-3d-locations-significantly-advances-the-augmented-reality-ecosystem\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">this recent post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> about our patent submission to enable real-time exploration of 3D mapped locations.
